• Submissions are open through October 31 for the 2016 John M. Eisenberg Patient Safety and Quality Awards, which recognize individual achievements, as well as local and national initiatives, to improve patient safety and healthcare quality.

“Patient safety standards and quality improvement are critically important resources for the nation,” said Helen Darling, MA, interim president and CEO of the National Quality Forum (NQF). “The Eisenberg awards recognize outstanding efforts from the quality field to make substantial, innovative changes to improve care for all Americans.”

Presented annually by the NQF and The Joint Commission, the Eisenberg awards honor the late John M. Eisenberg, MD, MBA, former administrator of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and an impassioned advocate for healthcare quality improvement. Dr. Eisenberg was a founding board member of NQF.

Awards are presented in three categories: individual, national, and regional. Individual awards recognize exceptional leadership and scholarship in patient safety and quality through a substantive body of work. National and local awards recognize initiatives that have had a significant impact on patient safety and quality, with measurable results that have been sustained for a minimum of one year. The 2016 Awards will be presented during NQF’s Annual Conference, “Accelerating the National Agenda for Quality Measurement and Value,” April 4-5, 2017, in Arlington, VA.
