Implementing Eligible Provider Based eMeasures

The National Quality Forum hosted a free virtual forum titled “Implementing Electronic Measures 101: The What, Why, and How.” NQF staff and eMeasure experts from the provider and vendor community led an interactive 90-minute webinar including discussion and a Q&A session. The 90 minute virtual forum addressed:

  • The importance of eMeasures in quality measurement, EHRs, and healthcare delivery
  • Components of an eMeasure
  • Major issues (e.g., work flow, evaluation of products) that physicians and hospital systems should contemplate when planning to implement eMeasures
  • Specific steps a provider (physician or hospital system) should take to prepare to implement eMeasures 
  • The anticipated role of and relationship between providers and EHRs vendors in implementing eMeasures

This virtual forum is part of ongoing work supported by the Department of Health and Human Services to assist vendors, healthcare providers, measure developers, and other healthcare professionals in understanding eMeasures to improve the quality of healthcare. The next virtual forum, eMeasures 201, will be offered late summer 2011 and will provide greater detail and instruction in reading, interpreting, and implementing eMeasures.
