Statement on the CMS Administrator 

Washington, DC - The National Quality Forum extends its best wishes to Dr. Donald Berwick as he begins a new chapter of his already deep and extraordinarily impactful career.  Dr. Berwick is a dedicated visionary  and a tireless champion for patients and their families.   His unwavering commitment to making safe and effective care available to all has served as an inspiration to many who have devoted their careers to the healthcare field. 

We also extend our best wishes to Marilyn Tavenner, the new acting CMS Administrator.  Through her various roles as a public servant in Virginia, as a care provider, and a healthcare system executive, Ms. Tavenner has the kind of 360 degree knowledge it takes to tackle making care safer, more patient-centered, and more efficient.  We look forward to future collaboration with CMS under her direction.
