NQF Statement on the “REACH” Act

We applaud the House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Frank Pallone (D-NJ-06) and Ranking Member Greg Walden (R-OR-02), as well as Representatives Tom O’Halleran (D-AZ-01), Elise Stefanik (R-NY-21), Eliot Engel (D-NY-16) and Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (R-GA-01) for their bipartisan support and commitment to continuing funding for the National Quality Forum (NQF) and ensuring Americans have safe, effective, high-value healthcare.

The reauthorization of funding for NQF will help ensure the advancement of national health priorities and that quality measures used in care delivery and payment reform continue to be reliable, effective, and drive measurable improvements. This important work is underscored by the support of over 145 leading health care organizations, the Friends of NQF.

The bipartisan “Reauthorizing and Extending America’s Community Health Act (H.R. 2328)” sustains funding for federal quality efforts for three years. It would also allow NQF to make recommendations for removal of measures from federal programs and allow for the prioritization of maternal mortality and morbidity measures for quality measure endorsement.
