Abstract
The report outlines seven national voluntary consensus standards that, taken together, comprise guidance for design and implementation strategies for Internet-based public reporting on the healthcare quality of acute care hospitals in the United States. Although the report specifically provides guidance for Internet-based public reporting, most of the guidance also can be applied to the public reporting of quality performance data from other locations. It is intended for use by those who sponsor public reports of quality performance information to help them develop and/or refine their efforts.
