Surgery Endorsement Maintenance 2010 Technical Report 

The rate of surgical procedures continues to rise each year, as has the number and type of sites performing surgical procedures. In 2006, 46 million inpatient surgeries were performed in the United States. In addition, more than 53 million procedures were performed in ambulatory surgery centers. This report focuses on the evaluation of 73 surgical measures for suitability as voluntary consensus standards for accountability and quality improvement across a range of settings.
