NQF is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of key public and private sector leaders with representation of all major stakeholder groups. Three seats are reserved for the directors of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and the National Institutes of Health. Consumers and purchasers hold a simple majority of the at-large seats, and the NQF president serves ex-officio.
