Pre-voting review of National Voluntary Consensus Standards for Diagnosis and Treatment of Breast and Colon Cancer

On November 20, 2006, NQF Member primary contacts were sent a draft report titled National Voluntary Consensus Standards for Diagnosis and Treatment of Breast and Colon Cancer.  The draft report recommends endorsement of six voluntary standards for breast cancer diagnosis and treatment and four voluntary standards for colon cancer diagnosis and treatment.  The draft report is provided for purposes of review and comment only—not voting.  NQF must receive all comments by December 21, 2006, 6:00 pm, EST. This document contains the transmittal memo, the draft report with proposed voluntary consensus standards for Symptom Management and End-of-Life Cancer Care, and the project timeline. The deadline for public comment is 6:00 p.m. EDT Wednesday, July 5, 2006; the deadline for NQF Member comment is 6:00 pm EDT Wednesday, July 12, 2006.

Meeting of the Symptom Management/End-of-Life Cancer Technical Panel

'Quality of Cancer Care Measures Project' Steering Committee Recommendations for Candidate Breast Cancer Consensus Standards

On June 16, 2005, the Cancer Project's Steering Committee met to evaluate candidate breast cancer standards. The purpose of the meeting was to (1) review potential breast cancer care consensus standards; (2) make recommendations for each potential consensus standard for member consideration; and (3) discuss the research agenda for future refinement or development of breast cancer quality of care performance measures. The draft NQF consensus document will be available in September 2005, for Member and public comment.

Call for Measures: Diagnosis and Treatment of Colorectal Cancers: 'Quality of Cancer Care Measures' Project

NQF is soliciting candidate measures for review and evaluation for potential inclusion in its set of NQF-endorsed voluntary consensus standards for quality of cancer care. To be considered, the "Measures Submission Form" must be used and all information on it provided for each measure. Please submit the required information by mail, fax, or courier to NQF using the form on the next page, with supplemental materials. No material will be accepted without a fully executed IP agreement accompanying the package-all material will be returned. All proposed measures must be submitted by 6:00pm, EST on March 18, 2005.

1st Meeting of the Steering Committee

On September 4-5, 2002, the National Quality Forum held the first Steering Committee meeting for the "Cancer Care Quality Measures" project, which was sponsored by the National Cancer Institute. As part of this meeting, the Committee recommended seven priority focus areas for initial attention on identifying a core set of cancer care quality measures.
