Abstract

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and NQF have both developed strategies to champion quality improvement through the use of NQF-endorsed™ voluntary consensus standards for healthcare quality. In May 2005, NQF, together with CMS, held a conference on May 9, 2005, in St. Louis, Missouri, to discuss the opportunities and challenges faced by the various types of providers that are implementing and reporting to CMS data from NQF-endorsed healthcare quality consensus standards.
