Abstract

Through its various projects NQF has endorsed 69 voluntary consensus standards for measuring the performance of acute care hospitals. However, consumers and other stakeholders have noted that current hospital performance data contains notable gaps in many areas. A series of “listening sessions” convened by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services focused on the gaps in hospital performance data. During these sessions acute myocardial infarction (AMI) mortality, congestive heart failure (HF) mortality, and coordination of care were identified as areas of high priority. This report presents NQF endorsed consensus standards in each of these areas.
