Abstract

Despite the impressive advances in pharmaceutical science and technology, too many patients do not receive the benefits of drugs that have been prescribed to them. In March 2004, NQF initiated a project to address the need for a coordinated, national plan to improve consumer use of prescription medications. The project consisted of a review of the evidence, development of a framework, and a workshop.
