press@qualityforum.orgNQF Annual Conference Highlights the Changing Landscape of Healthcare Affordability and Value
Washington, DC — Nearly 400 national leaders in quality will convene at the National Quality Forum (NQF)’s 2015 Annual Conference next week to address healthcare costs, quality, and their intersection: healthcare value. The event, “Tackling Costs: The Quality Solution,” will take place on March 23-24, 2015, at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, DC.
NQF President Christine Cassel, MD, will explore consumers’ perception of value in her keynote address, while Harvard Medical School professor Michael Chernew, PhD, will address the role of quality measurement in value-based payment programs. Two panel discussions will explore current and future healthcare cost drivers and the challenges of the 114th Congress in meeting healthcare costs.
Other program highlights include a keynote address from former Senator Bill Frist, MD, as well as plenary session addresses from West Health CEO Nicholas Valeriani, Kaiser Permanente Chairman and CEO Bernard Tyson, and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Acting Principal Deputy Administrator and Chief Medical Officer Patrick Conway, MD, MSc. Speakers also include Sir Andrew Dillon, chief executive of the United Kingdom’s National Institute for Health and Care Excellence.
In addition, NQF will recognize winners of two awards during the meeting. The 2014 John M. Eisenberg Patient Safety and Quality Award winners will be honored during an awards luncheon on March 23, and the winner of NQF’s inaugural Consumers and Patients for Quality Award will be honored during the morning session on March 24.
