NQF Issues Statement on Bill to Align Quality Measures Advancing in the Senate

“A bipartisan bill to facilitate measure alignment across public and private sectors has advanced in the Senate, marking an important step toward streamlining quality metrics that assess healthcare quality. The U.S. Senate Finance Committee this week approved the Quality Measure Alignment Act of 2015 (S. 1427), co-sponsored by Sens. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Rob Portman (R-Ohio), as part of a larger bill to improve maternity care for mothers and babies (S. 466).

“The National Quality Forum applauds Sens. Stabenow and Portman for supporting better health and care for patients and urges Congress to pass the Quality Measure Alignment Act of 2015. Ensuring that public and private payers can agree on a uniform, targeted and high value set of measures can reduce redundant and burdensome data collection and reporting for providers. With this legislation, we also can send a clearer message to providers about key priorities with the goal of accelerating our efforts to improve outcomes for patients.”
