Washington, DC
—The National Quality Forum (NQF) adds to its leadership team with the selection of new general counsel, a vice president of quality measurement initiatives, a vice president of strategic planning, and a new vice president of information technology (IT).

Amol Batra is NQF’s new general counsel, and is responsible for the strategic management and execution of all legal and Board governance activities at NQF. Batra has more than a decade of experience working both as in-house counsel and with law firms in the areas of corporate governance, commercial and government contracting, intellectual property, human resources, and regulatory compliance. Before joining NQF, Batra served as general counsel for Avalere Health LLC, an Inovalon company.

John Bernot, MD, has been promoted to vice president of quality measurement initiatives. He provides broad clinical guidance to NQF and leads health information technology initiatives, as well as key efforts to prioritize NQF’s measure portfolio and obtain feedback on measure use. Dr. Bernot also will continue leading NQF’s Health Equity Program, which is developing strategies to overcome disparities in healthcare. Previously, he was a senior director in NQF’s quality measurement department and the lead staff for the Measure Applications Partnership Clinician Workgroup, which evaluates quality measures for the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) and the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). Dr. Bernot is a practicing family medicine physician.

Ayesha D’Avena is NQF’s new vice president of strategic planning, and will be responsible for directing and executing NQF’s strategic plan, identifying strategic business opportunities, and managing cross-departmental strategic initiatives and programs. D’Avena previously served as a senior advisor with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, where she oversaw strategic direction, planning, and execution of Medicare’s value-based Quality Payment Program.

Anthony Meoni is NQF’s new vice president of information technology (IT). He is responsible for NQF’s strategic IT initiatives and operations, overseeing technology solutions across the organization, including website functionality, online product lifecycle management systems, databases, and NQF’s new online store. Tony has over 20 years of experience in IT strategy and leadership. He joins NQF from America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), where as vice president of IT, he was responsible for the organization’s IT strategy and department, website, and IT security requirements.

“We are delighted to add these talented professionals to NQF’s leadership team,” said Shantanu Agrawal, MD, MPhil, NQF president and CEO. “Their diverse experience will contribute significantly to NQF’s mission and goals, and we look forward to their many contributions.”
