NQF will commission a paper to address current capabilities and data needs of electronic health records (EHRs) to support performance measures in the area of care coordination and barriers to implementing necessary elements to further such measurement.

The Care Coordination Endorsement Maintenance Phase I Steering Committee met for the first time on October 19, 2011 to discuss components of this first phase of the Care Coordination project. Discussions included a review of a commissioned paper outline on capabilities and data needs of electronic health records (EHR) to care coordination performance measures as well as an environmental scan of current measures. The committee also addressed gaps in care coordination measures and future pathways for measurement in this area.
