Abstract
Ensuring that every patient and family member is engaged as a partner in coordinated care is core to advancing the quality of our healthcare system. NQF’s newly formed Patient Experience and Function measure topic area encompasses many measure previously included in the Person- and Family- Centered Care and Care Coordination topic areas, including measures that address health-related quality of life and the many factors that influence it, including communication, care coordination, transitions of care, and use of health information technology. During the fall cycle of 2017, the Patient Experience and Function Standing Committee evaluated four newly submitted measures and one measure undergoing maintenance review against NQF’s standard evaluation criteria. One measure that was submitted for maintenance review was endorsed and four new measures submitted for evaluation were not endorsed.
