Geriatrics and Palliative CareAbstract
Improving the quality of geriatrics and palliative care is important due to several factors such as the aging US population, projected increase in Americans with chronic illnesses, functional limitations and changes in ethnic and cultural diversity which has lead to an increased need for person-centered care. The National Quality Forum (NQF) has endorsed 30 measures in this topic area. For the Fall 2018 cycle, NQF evaluated five geriatrics measures undergoing maintenance review alongside NQF’s standard evaluation criteria. All five measures were recommended for endorsement by the committee with the Consensus Standards Approval Committee (CSAC) approval.
