Cancer is the second most common cause of death in the United States (U.S.), exceeded only by heart disease, and its diagnosis and treatment has great economic impact on patients, their families, and society. It is estimated that by 2030, cancer-attributable costs are projected to increase to over $245 billion. Each Cancer project cycle aims to endorse measures of accountability for improving the delivery of cancer care in the U.S. During the fall 2019 cycle, measures were assigned to one of two tracks. Due to an extension of the fall 2019 commenting period, which was introduced to allow flexibility for organizations impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the evaluation of the track 2 cycle measures undergoing maintenance review was completed during the spring 2020 review cycle. During the fall 2019 track 1 cycle, six measures were evaluated and recommended for endorsement by the Cancer Standing Committee. Details of the fall 2019 track 1 cycle evaluation are in the report.
