Abstract
The National Quality Forum’s (NQF) portfolio of Cardiovascular measures have been grouped into various topic areas such as primary prevention and screening, coronary artery disease (CAD), ischemic vascular disease (IVD), acute myocardial infarction (AMI), cardiac catheterization, percutaneous catheterization intervention (PCI), heart failure (HF), rhythm disorders, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), cardiac imaging, cardiac rehabilitation, and high blood pressure. During the fall 2020 measure evaluation cycle, the Cardiovascular Standing Committee evaluated two measures undergoing maintenance endorsement review against NQF’s standard evaluation criteria. These measures focused on the risk-standardized mortality rate for patients discharged from the hospital with a principal diagnosis of heart failure and patients discharged from the hospital with a principal diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction hospitalization. Both measures were recommended for endorsement by the Standing Committee and the Consensus Standards Approval Committee (CSAC) upheld the Standing Committee’s recommendations for endorsement.
