Infectious diseases, occupational safety, and chronic illnesses have decreased through improvements in population and public health measures. Even though immunizations have eradicated many childhood diseases, a significant gap in care remains, as Americans are still dying from these preventable diseases. The Prevention and Population Health Standing Committee recommended endorsement for one new measure that targets recommended adult immunizations for individuals by age and four vaccination types. The Consensus Standards Approval Committee upheld the Standing Committee’s recommendation.
