    Bruce Hall, MD, is associate director of the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP®) for the American College of Surgeons, a member of NQF for the last 12 years. He is vice president of Patient-Centered Outcomes and the Clinical Advisory Group for the Center for Clinical Excellence at BJC Healthcare, as well as a professor of surgery and healthcare management at Washington University in St. Louis, MO.

    Dr. Hall has collaborated with NQF on many projects, most recently serving as co-chair of the All-Cause Admissions and Readmissions Steering Committee. He has done research on the evaluation of quality in surgery and has particular interest in risk adjustment.

    The surgical champion for NSQIP at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Dr. Hall has coordinated implementation of this quality improvement program based on the collection and feedback of clinical data in other BJC hospitals. He devises strategies for physician engagement to improve clinical outcomes, decrease preventable harm, and increase more efficient use of healthcare resources.
