NQF Launches New Measure Endorsement Work - story

NQF Launches New Measure Review and Endorsement ProjectsAlthough the healthcare industry has made major improvements in measuring and addressing patient harms, patients still suffer tens of thousands of preventable injuries each year, and many of these injuries have dire consequences. A recently launched NQF project will build upon prior NQF work to review new and previously endorsed measures related to venous thromboembolism, medication safety, and pressure ulcers, among other areas.

This work is among 12 new measure review and endorsement projects that NQF began this fall on behalf of the U.S. Department for Health and Human Services. NQF also will look at measures for cancer care, surgical procedures, and care of patients with heart disease, neurological conditions, kidney disease, and pulmonary conditions. In addition, NQF will look at measures for palliative and end-of-life care, person- and family-centered care, health and well-being, admissions and readmissions, perinatal and reproductive health, and critical care.

We welcome member participation in these timely projects. Learn more about the work on NQF’s website:
