Health Information Technology Advisory Committee (HITAC)
The Health Information Technology Advisory Committee (HITAC) is a standing committee of the NQF Board of Directors. The committee, approved by the board of directors in 2009, provides specific expertise on NQF’s HIT projects.
Charge to HITAC
- Develop a strategic plan and provide ongoing guidance for NQF’s HIT portfolio;
- Offer input on HIT projects such as the specification of testing requirements for eMeasures and the maintenance of the Quality Data Set;
- Review electronic specifications for NQF-endorsed and candidates measures; and
- Make recommendations on the endorsement and maintenance of HIT-related consensus standards and the endorsement of candidate standards.
Composition
Members of HITAC represent a wide range of healthcare stakeholders, including consumers, providers, purchasers, suppliers, and public and community healthcare organizations. The Committee also includes non-voting federal liaisons from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Indian Health Services, the Office of the National Coordinator, and the Veterans Health Administration. Members of HITAC are eligible to serve three-year terms. To stagger the future appointment cycle, inaugural HITAC members will serve one-, two-, or three-year terms.
