In her 15 years with NQF, Reva’s contributions to quality
measurement advanced a wide array of projects to make healthcare better. Notably,
she helped develop NQF’s measure endorsement processes and led NQF’s first
perinatal project, which resulted in endorsement of a seminal measure of early
elective deliveries (EEDs) to help measure and reduce the rate of EEDs.
“Reva was a wonderful physician, a stalwart quality advocate, a national expert in the science of measurement, and an enormously valued member of our team,” said Helen Darling, MA, NQF interim president and CEO. “We are deeply saddened that she is no longer with us.”
In dozens of emails to NQF staff, members of the measurement
community have highlighted Reva’s long and valuable service to the quality
movement and their appreciation of her leadership and pragmatism.
Before joining NQF, Reva practiced medicine in Southern
California. She completed her residency at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Los
Angeles, after graduating from UCLA School of Medicine. Reva also earned a
Master of Public Health from the George Washington University School of Public
Health and Health Services.
In her memory, Reva’s family requests donations in her name
to the Coastal
Pet Rescue, a nonprofit animal rescue organization based in
Savannah, GA.
