NQF Statement: NQF Supports Quality Provisions of the IMPACT Act H.R. 44994/S. 2553

The National Quality Forum (NQF) has offered its support for the quality provisions included the Improving Medicare Post-Acute Care Transformation Act of 2014 (IMPACT Act, H.R. 4994/S. 2553). In a letter to the leadership of the House Ways and Means and the Senate Finance Committees, NQF commended the legislation as “bi-partisan, bi-cameral and tak[ing] important steps towards strengthening quality in the post-acute setting.”

The IMPACT Act requires measures to be NQF-endorsed when possible, which is critical to ensuring that standardized measures are valid, relevant, and scientifically based.

The legislation also recognizes the NQF-convened Measure Applications Partnership (MAP), which provides a forum for stakeholders to engage around key measurement issues with the goal of reaching consensus across different perspectives. This forum helps drive alignment of measures across the public and private sectors, which can accelerate improvement and reduce reporting burden.
