Abstract
The original set of NQF-endorsed® safe practices, released in 2003 and updated in 2006, were defined to be universally applied in all clinical care settings in order to reduce the risk of error and harm for patients. The 2009 report includes a set of 34 NQF-endorsed safe practices updated with current evidence and expanded implementation approaches. The 2009 report also provides additional measures for assessing the implementation of the practices.
