Abstract
Measuring the quality of care for cardiovascular conditions is critically important. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States and accounts for approximately $312.6 billion in health care expenditures annually. Considered one of NQF's largest measure portfolios, this project identified and endorsed measures for accountability and quality improvement that specifically address cardiovascular conditions. This report focuses on the evaluation of 8 newly submitted and 9 cardiovascular measures undergoing maintenance review for suitability as voluntary consensus standards.
